The 2023 season is slowly approaching as teams meet for voluntary OTAs and prepare for training camp at the end of July and into August. The Chicago Bears are hoping for better results this season. To be fair, there is nowhere to go but up after only winning three games and finishing with the worst record in football last season. Ryan Poles has been hard at work revamping this roster though and we have seen some key additions via trades (D.J. Moore), the draft (Darnell Wright), and through free agency (Nate Davis, Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edward).

If you are unfamiliar with FantasyPros, they are a site dedicated to fantasy sports. Around this time each year, they come out with a list of the most overrated players heading into the 2023 season. Now, it should be noted that when they say overrated, they mean in regard to fantasy football and not to a team or the NFL season. This year, the consensus for the Chicago Bears is D.J. Moore.

D.J. Moore is the most overrated fantasy player of the Chicago Bears

Four analysts at FantasyPros made votes for each team and two of the four selected D.J. Moore as the most overrated fantasy player of the Chicago Bears heading into 2023. One analyst selected Khalil Herbert (probably my choice) and the other selected Darnell Mooney.

The reason that D.J. Moore was selected is the fact that his "open score" fell to 67th out of 82 qualifying wide receivers last year was concerning. FantasyPros also mentioned the low pass rate for the Chicago Bears in 2022 that will likely carry over to some degree in 2023. They don't view him as a top-24 receiver despite his consensus average draft pick (ADP) is currently WR21. This is why they are choosing him as overrated.

If we look at some of the receivers close to his ADP, names like Christian Watson, Calvin Ridley, Terry McLaurin and Keenan Allen pop out. Personally, I'd take Moore over all of them except Allen from a fantasy perspective. Therefore, I find it hard to consider him more overrated than say Khalil Herbert who is viewed as the RB35 while D'Onta Foreman is currently RB43.

A few names FantasyPros threw out there as overrated throughout the NFC North include Jameson Williams, David Montgomery, A.J. Dillon (all four picked him), T.J. Hockenson, and Kirk Cousins.
