The Chicago Bears would benefit from drafting Adetomiwa Adebawore

Rod Marinelli was Lovie Smith's defensive coordinator for the Bears. He has coached Cover 2 teams for many years. In an interview on WSCR radio, he tells us about combined tests and 3T's. He said that the broad and vertical jumps are tests that athletes cannot get better at in preparation for the Combine. When evaluating the 3T's, he places great value on these numbers. So it is noteworthy that Adebawore had, unusually, high broad and vertical jumps when tested.

In comparison, here are the Combine results of Dre'Mont Jones a free agent 3T the Bears tried and failed to sign this offseason. His Combine measurables include 6'3" 281 lbs., 5.12 40-yard dash, a vertical jump of 31.5", and a broad jump of 9'2". He has 33-3/4’’ arms and 9 5/8’’ hands. Adebawore has better Combine results than Dre'Mont Jones.

Then there is DeForest Buckner of the Colts whom the Bears would love to have as their 3T. He has these Combine measurables. 6'7" 291 lbs., 5.05 40-yard dash, a 32" vertical jump, a 9'8" broad jump, 34-3/8’’ arms, and 11-3/4’’ hands. Buckner is taller with longer arms than Adebawore. However, Adebawore is better at the vertical and broad jumps.
