Adetomiwa Adebawore will instantly improve the defense

If the Chicago Bears draft Adebawore, they will no doubt have him add at least 10 lbs. of muscle to his frame. Tommie Harris played around 295 lbs. when he was the man on the Bears' defense. Jason Hargrave was another free agent the Bears tried and failed to sign this offseason. He is 6'2" and weighs 305 lbs. So if Adebawore can just get his weight into the 290 lbs plus range he will, easily, fit the profile of a 3T for the Bears with his traits that enable him to explode off the snap.

Playing for Northwestern, Adebawore split his time between defensive tackle and defensive end. His overall production in these roles was not, particularly, impressive. However, he did show flashes of great play. Greg Gabriel believes a player does not have to play a lot if any 3T in college in order to become a very good 3T in the NFL.

Gabriel also points out that Adebawore won all of his 12 Senior Bowl practice reps. In all of Greg Gabriel's many years of attending Senior Bowl practices, he had never seen any defensive line prospect win all of his reps at the Senior Bowl. No doubt this is why Adebawore was voted the National team’s defensive line practice player of the week.

Greg Gabriel tells us 3T's need to be special players with special traits. These traits are needed for them to be quick explosive penetrators. The reason a 3T is the pivotal role in Cover 2 is he needs to be a big-time disruptor. Whatever play the offense is trying to run the 3T at the center of the play needs to at least throw it off balance if not truly disrupt whatever the offense intends to do.
