3. The Chicago Bears cannot trust Matt Eberflus as head coach

Matt Eberflus is what he is. It is pretty to see that he is a great defensive coordinator. He has turned the Chicago Bears' defense around. They went from the bottom ten against the run to the top ten. Now that he has the right pieces, they are taking the ball away at a high rate. He is coaching them well.

However, that is not the job of a head coach, and he has done a poor job in that area. The Bears lost too many one-score games. They turn two-score leads into one-score leads. They blew multiple score leads against the Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, and Cleveland Browns. The Chicago Bears lacked game management to bring those home.

That is the difference between a playoff spot and sitting at home with nothing to play for with three weeks to go. Eberflus has a bad record in the division, and he is 2-2 straight up when his team is favored to win. Worse than that, he is 0-3-1 against the spread when he is the favorite.

Eberflus does not know how to win games as a head coach. That is quite easily the biggest factor in determining whether a head coach is good or not. Matt Eberflus is a bad coach and should be a defensive coordinator for a new team next year.
