Editorial mistakes happen in the writing profession. I need to get this out of the way now before anyone decides to use one made by NBC Sports Chicago (NBC) as a reason to ignore their ranking of Justin Fields. The article released today has a consensus ranking of the quarterbacks in the NFC and it starts with a glaring mistake. Maybe this was their way of paying homage to Lovie Smith who helped the Chicago Bears secure the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft - a pick they traded to the Carolina Panthers for draft picks and WR D.J. Moore.

Needless to say, the Texans are not in the NFC.

Yes, the article starts with Davis Mills of the Houston Texans ranked 16th. In reality, it should be Sam Howell of the Washington Commanders that takes on that bottom spot. If the Commanders' organization hasn't gone through enough, now the NBC staff is just writing the franchise off completely. Can you blame them with Sam Howell as the starting quarterback? In fairness, both the Texans and Commanders played a role in Chicago securing that top pick. Not to mention, Ron "Riverboat" Rivera has a history with the Bears too. Davis Mills is the better of the two QBs though.

Where does Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields rank in the NFC?

I am not about to give away every one of the rankings in the NBC article. If you want to check out the full order, make sure to click here. In the meantime, I am going to note a few players that NBC has below Justin Fields and a few players who are ranked ahead of Fields.

Notable names of quarterbacks who NBC has below Justin Fields all come from the NFC North. That's right, NBC has Kirk Cousins, Jordan Love and Jared Goff all ranked lower. I'll point out that I completely agree with this ranking as I too have Justin Fields as the best quarterback in the NFC North. There are other notable names though.

The consensus at NBC also has Justin Fields ranked higher than Daniel Jones, Geno Smith and Derek Carr. Overall, Justin Fields is ranked fifth overall. Ahead of Justin FIelds are five quarterbacks who would not all be ahead of Fields if I were creating the rankings. Spoiler (shouldn't be) is that Jalen Hurts is first on this list. I agree with that. Dak Prescott is ahead of Fields though and I disagree with that one. I also disagree with Kyler Murray being ahead of Fields.

Next. Has this prospect become a target for the Bears early?. dark
