The Chicago Bears Need to Make Jordan Love Uncomfortable Early

Jordan Love is one of the great mysteries of the 2023 season, and no one knows quite what to expect from the 2020 first-rounder. In the NFL, Love has started only one game but has made appearances in 10 separate outings. Still, never has he entered the season as the team's full-time starter, and Sunday will be his first opportunity to see what it's like to carry the franchise on his shoulders.

Even though he has limited experience, Love has something that many young quarterbacks would dream of, three years of experience serving as a backup under Aaron Rodgers. The back-to-back MVP certainly mentored Love along the way, but now it is the Utah State product's time to shine in Green Bay's offense. No matter what Love has studied and seen on film, it is certainly different once the first whistle sounds, and in his debut against the Bears, the defense should make it as difficult for him as possible.

Still, Love has not experienced a lot of different defenses in his professional career, playing usually against reserves during the latter parts of blowout games, but the Bears have an opportunity to confuse him from the first snap of the game. Now, traditionally a team's first outing won't incorporate confusing schemes on either side of the ball, but the Bears defense should look to bring pressure from different depths and confuse the young quarterback with a variety of disguises in coverage. If the Bears can get Love to see things on the field that aren't happening, there is a good chance that the defense will generate turnovers against the quarterback in just his second start.
