Although it means nothing in the grand scheme of things, players in the NFL are usually not thrilled by the rating they receive in Madden unless the rating is highly favorable. It appears that DJ Moore is one of those players this year. When he found out about his Madden 2024 rating, he took to Twitter. The Chicago Bears wide receiver had this to say about the matter.

Chicago Bears WR, DJ Moore not thrilled with Madden 2024 rating

Madden released DJ Moore's rating as 86. This ranking is tied as the 12th-best receiver rating, but there are 30 receivers ahead of him. Last season, DJ Moore finished as WR20 in fantasy points. This was despite having multiple below-average quarterbacks throwing him the ball. In 2021, Moore finished as WR19. He was WR18 in 2020 and WR34 his rookie season. Those rankings fluctuate slightly depending on scoring (half-point PPR or PPR), but he has been better than WR30 over the last four years.

Moore didn't gain more than 1,000 yards last season, but he had 888 yards and seven touchdowns -- a career-high in touchdowns. Since 2018, DJ Moore is 11th in receiving yards with 5,201. This puts him up there with guys like Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins and Keenan Allen. He isn't among those names in the Madden 2024 ratings though. He finds himself tied with Brandon Aiyuk and Chris Godwin. Not bad company to be honest.

A quick rundown of the top 10 WR ratings includes Justin Jefferson as the only one to make the "99 Club", Tyreek Hill, Davante Adams, Cooper Kupp, Stefon Diggs, Ja'Marr Chase, Terry McLaurin, A.J. Brown, Amari Cooper and Ceedee Lamb. I'm not going to try and convince you that DJ Moore should have a rating close to Justin Jefferson, Tyreek Hill or Davante Adams. However, I do think he should see a rating above his 2022 rating of 88. He deserves to be an 89 with an opportunity to push into the 90s.

Hopefully, pairing him with Justin Fields will allow him to hit that mark next season. This means that Fields will need to take that third-year jump we have seen by many other young quarterbacks. If he plays the way I think he can, I think we can expect to see DJ Moore crack that 90-rating next year. What do you think, do you think Moore deserves to have a higher rating than 86?
