The NFL combine is a valuable event for so many reasons. It matters for NFL evaluators to get confirmation on prospects, but also for discussions about free agency in the week ahead. Lastly, we head from the top decision-makers for each team during this event. With that in mind, there are plenty of Chicago Bears tidbits to take away.

What are the most important notes and details to follow coming out of the NFL combine?

5. The Chicago Bears are not moving on from Justin Fields

You could argue that this is the status quo, but it is news because so many have said that the team may move on from Justin Fields. However, after you hear Ryan Poles and Matt Ebeflus talk it is so hard to think that there is any chance that a trade is coming.

Ryan Poles said he would need to be blown away to make a move. You could argue that Anthony Richardson did blow some away with his athletic abilities, but he also showed questions as a passer. It is hard to say any others were head and shoulders ahead of Justin Fields by the way they handled the NFL combine.

Perhaps the bigger news is that the team plans to trade the number one pick as soon as possible. Ryan Poles noted it was wise to keep the pick until now because the medical and interviews can help them decide their offseason plan. From there, he said that trading it soon will be vital because the team may get players back in the trade, and they would want to do that before free agency.

Once they trade back, it is hard to make the case for them taking a quarterback and moving on from Fields. So, that storyline may die in the next week.
