NFC North QB power rankings after final week of preseason
By Ryan Heckman
3. Jared Goff
How is a guy coming off a season where he threw for over 4,400 yards and 29 touchdowns ranked lower than Fields? It's a pretty easy answer, actually. Go ahead and do a quick search for "Jared Goff MVP 2023" or something along those lines.
Do you see much evidence of Goff actually being an MVP favorite, or even in the discussion? How about checking out those betting odds outlets? Go on, check them out. Heck, if we're being honest, not even Kirk Cousins is ranked among the top 10 MVP candidates on most betting sites.
Goff is a good quarterback, but his ceiling is not that of Fields. The Bears have a game-breaking talent in Fields, who can shift the course of a football game with one single play. The Lions can certainly make the postseason with Goff under center, but if we're looking at individual power rankings, and as of this very moment, I'm taking Fields over Goff.
Not to mention, these are post-preseason rankings and we didn't even see Goff during the preseason. So, for now, let's stick with Fields over Goff if we're talking individual rankings.
