3 free agents that would help the Chicago Bears push for the playoffs
Chicago Bears Free Agent Target: Yannick Ngakoue, EDGE
No team in the NFL collected fewer sacks than the Bears did in 2022. Did the team do enough to fix this massive issue?
Veterans DeMarcus Walker and Rasheem Greene were added in free agency, but neither has been special in their career. On the other side, the Bears seem to be counting on a big leap from Trevis Gipson and/or Dominique Robinson.
Andrew Billings, Gervon Dexter Sr., and Zacch Pickens were brought in on the interior, but all three are more known for run-stuffing than pass-rushing.
Fortunately for the Bears, there is a solid option that is still available. Yannick Ngakoue has played on five teams in four years, but don't let that fool you. Since entering the league in 2016, Ngakoue has never had less than eight sacks in a season. In 2022 for the Colts, Ngakoue collected 9.5 sacks, 29 tackles, and eight tackles for loss.
Ngakoue has spent the majority of his career in a 4-3 base defense, so the veteran would fit in seamlessly in Chicago at one of the end spots. Adding Ngakoue is a surefire way for the Bears to not end up in the basement again in the sacks category.
