4. Tanner Engstrand, Passing Game Coordinator, Detroit Lions

With a lot of the attention gearing toward Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as one of the next head coaches to be named, we should look beneath Johnson and try to figure out who might be coming up in his place.

As the no. 3 passing team in football this season, the Lions have been one of the most prolific offenses we've seen. Jared Goff has had his struggles, sure, but all in all, he's had a very good season. And, you can credit some of that to passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand. He began his coaching career back in 2005 at San Diego and ultimately made it up to the pros when he became an offensive assistant for the Lions in 2021.

The Lions' offense has been extremely balanced this year, using multiple running backs and staying committed to the ground game while also dissecting defenses through the air. Detroit is the no. 4 rushing team in the NFL this season while also ranking so high in passing.

The Bears could take a page out of their book by hiring Engstrand and, although many fans wanted Johnson to be the next head coach, Engstrand might be the next best thing.
