Overreaction Monday: Chicago Bears vs. Kansas City Chiefs

In a week filled with multiple storylines not pertaining to the play of the team itself, the Chicago Bears came out and gave Taylor Swift a true sighting of what they're capable of. And it's not much. After a performance like this, there's plenty to overreact to.

Overreaction No. 4: The Chicago Bears have and will ruin every quarterback they touch

While somewhat an overreaction, is it really? It is?!

There genuinely hasn't been a recent Chicago Bears quarterback who has been able to succeed with the Bears.

Since stats began being recorded across the league, the Chicago Bears have yet to have a quarterback throw for 4,000 yards.

Of the top 10 seasons by a Chicago Bears quarterback based on passing yards, six come prior to 2010— seven including 2010. In the year of 2023, not great!

Well, okay, so maybe Chicago Bears quarterbacks haven't had great success year by year. Certainly, recent quarterbacks have had some successful careers with the Bears, right? Nope!

Of the top 20 careers by a Chicago Bears quarterback based on passing yards, 14 quarterbacks retired before the year 2000. Of those 14, eight retired prior to 1980.

While it could be seen as an overreaction to think the Bears are doomed and they're incapable of developing a quarterback, the evidence is damning.

The Chicago Bears have a lot of things they need to clean up, and if they don't these overreactions will become less and less egregious.
