The Chicago Bears will have some decisions to make this offseason. Loaded with draft capital and a ton of cap space, this team should look different in 2024.

Currently sitting at 6-9, the Bears have technically not been eliminated from playoff contention just yet. However, much craziness would have to happen, and most have already shifted focus to 2024.

The biggest decisions to make involve the head coach and quarterback. Matt Eberflus and Justin Fields have both been the subject of much speculation of late. However, for this piece, let's discuss other players who could be nearing the end of their Bears' tenure instead.

Darnell Mooney

Darnell Mooney, at one time, looked like a future star receiver in the NFL. The receiver out of Tulane came down with 81 catches for 1,055 yards and four touchdowns in 2021. Mooney seemed to be building chemistry with Justin Fields, and things were promising.

However, Mooney has not come close to replicating this production. In 2022, Mooney had just 40 catches for 493 yards and 2 TDs. In 2023, Mooney currently has 31 catches for 414 yards and 1 TD. Mooney will now head into free agency, likely on the back of his worst season as a pro.

Mooney has failed to be a reliable No. 2 behind D.J. Moore. The Bears could and should be able to secure a better option behind Moore. The team should let someone else give Mooney a new contract.
