The Chicago Bears continue their preseason schedule on Saturday with an afternoon game against the Buffalo Bills.

This would seemingly be the first opportunity for Bears fans to watch rookie quarterback Caleb Williams in-game action. Williams, along with the rest of the Bears' starters on offense and defense, sat out of the team's game against the Houston Texans last week.

With the Bears resuming practice on Tuesday, the team released their updated depth chart on Monday.

The depth chart the Bears released last week is not significantly different from the updated version. Of course, since it is preseason, the team is still using "or" for certain position groups. In all honesty, the "or" designation is more closely tied to playing time in the particular game than it is to a player's spot on the depth chart.

For example, even after his standout performance against the Texans last week, veteran wide receiver Collin Johnson remains at the bottom of the wide receiver depth chart. That doesn't mean there isn't a path available for Johnson to make the 53-man roster, valuable on special teams.

Khalil Herbert is the first running back listed behind D'Andre Swift. If there was a player who improved his stock the most in the NFL Hall of Fame game outside of Johnson, it was Herbert, as he may now have the advantage of being the primary backup running back.

Saturday's game will also be another opportunity for the Bears to evaluate their defensive end position. The Bears will need to see progression from Austin Bookers if they are going to feel comfortable with their depth at the position. Otherwise, another poor showing from Booker may push the Bears closer to a reunion with Yannick Ngakoue.
