The 2023 season still needs to determine things, but one of the leading sites for the NFL salary cap, Spotrac, started releasing their 2024 contract projections. Among those projections include four very important players currently on the Chicago Bears roster. One who is missing is Chase Claypool. I'd have to expect that his projections are to be similar to Darnell Mooney though.
When we look at the Chicago Bears roster, four names stand out when we think about players heading for free agency in 2024 -- Chase Claypool, Darnell Mooney, Jaylon Johnson and Cole Kmet. A few other interesting names include Trevis Gipson, D'Onta Foreman, Kindle Vildor and Robert Tonyan. It will be interesting to see if Ryan Poles gives any of the big for an extension before the season starts, or at least ends. As of now, he has yet to extend any former players from under the Ryan Pace regime.
With Chase Claypool's projected contract still looming, we will look at the biggest four names who have projections listed already. This includes Darnell Mooney, Jaylon Johnson, Cole Kmet and D'Onta Foreman.
The Chicago Bears have plenty of salary cap room for all of these players
As of now, the Chicago Bears still have the most salary cap room for 2023. Looking ahead to 2023, they are sitting with the third-most room. Many things can change between now and then, but the point is that the Bears have enough room to sign all of these pending free agents. The key is, making sure to sign the ones who deserve it and the ones who still perform at high levels next year and beyond. I am sure this is why Ryan Poles is taking his time. We will see how everything plays out soon.
