No, I'm not writing this because Chicago Bears rookie running back Roschon Johnson is on my fantasy football team. Johnson has shown what he's capable of with limited carries and should be given more chances on offense.

The Bears offense has struggled mightily in the first two games of the season. This is a surprise to many who believed the Bears' offense would improve this year. Instead, the entire unit has regressed and they can't seem to move the ball down the field. The offense's ineptitude was analyzed in a recent article by "The Ringer."

This is a team that needs a spark and Johnson could be the one to provide it. Johnson, a rookie two games into his pro career, already beat out D'Onta Foreman for the second-string running back spot on the depth chart, per ESPN.

The Chicago Bears need to start giving Roschon Johnson more touches

What are the Bears waiting for? After impressing the Bears in the preseason, Johnson followed up this strong campaign by racking up 97 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in the first two games of his rookie season, per Pro Football Reference. Johnson is also averaging a whopping 5.8 yards per carry so far.

If the Bears want to get their stagnant offense rolling, it makes sense to feed Johnson. He has the hot hand right now and can put Bears quarterback Justin Fields in manageable passing situations. Like most rookie running backs, Johnson will only get better each time he carries the ball and gains confidence. Having a back who gains 5.8 yards per carry getting some confidence isn't a bad idea for an offense that is paced to be in the bottom half of the league this season.

Expect Johnson to get involved in the passing game just as much as the running game. He has nine carries and eight receptions so far. It's checkdown city in Chicago right now and Johnson is ready to get as many yards after the catch as possible.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that Johnson is one of the lone bright spots on the Bears' offense. The former Texas Longhorn was Bijan Robinson's backup in college and still managed to work his way into the game plan. It will be interesting to see how Johnson progresses during his rookie year.

For their next game, the Bears will be on the road to face the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.
