The countdown until training camp is on. While we count the days down until the start of the season, we also count down the Chicago Bears roster as we review things from top to bottom. This will be looking at which players will have the most significant impact on the wins and losses this season and focusing on just this season.

The Chicago Bears currently have 91 players on their roster according to their website, but they have a backup and punter who we will put at 91 and 90. Today, we are Bralen Trahan, a safety.

Chicago Bears roster ranking: No. 89 S Bralen Trahan

Bralen Trahan is a rookie UDFA from LA Lafayette. He spent six years with the Ragin Cajuns and was a four-year starter. Over the course of his career, he played 917 snaps as a box safety, 1,086 snaps as a free safety, and then 422 snaps in the slot. So, his versatility is valuable, but he has a long shot to the Bears roster.

First, he has limited special teams experience. Let's face it; those are the oppurtunities he will need to create to make the roster. Second, the depth chart around him is just too tight.

Eddie Jackson and Jaquan Brisker are the obvious starters. The Chicago Bears drafted Elijah Hicks and Kendall Williamson in back-to-back years, and they liked what they saw from A.J. Thomas last season. They kept the UDFA on the practice squad, and brought him up for a bit last season.

Lastly, the Chicago Bears signed Adrian Colbert. He is a journeyman now but was a starter not very long ago. He definitely has roster prioriity over Bralen Trahan as we stand. Even UDFA rookie Macon Clark is getting a bit more buzz than Trahan is.

Trahan may have a winning season if he ends up on the practice squad. Someone has to be on the low end of these lists, and entering training camp as the seventh or eighth safety is where you have to have to start things off. That is where Bralen Trahan stands.
