Chicago Bears Top 5 Under 25: No. 1 - Justin Fields, QB

Many might chalk up Justin Fields' landing the top spot on this list to being a quarterback, but it’s hard to deny he was Chicago’s single-best player in the second half of the 2022 season.

While his play style was unconventional, Fields used his elite rushing ability to lead a potent run game. The Bears' 3-14 record may not show it, but it was Fields' play that kept them competitive against playoff teams such as the Dolphins and Eagles.

The ultimate question in regard to Fields' play is his ability as a passer. He was statistically the worst drop-back quarterback in football and only threw for over 200 yards in two games.  As effective as he was a runner last season, this style of play isn’t the most sustainable.

Fields took a lot of hits as both a rusher and passer last year, and fewer runs would help mitigate that in 2023. However, that plan is contingent on Fields doing enough as a passer that the offense doesn’t need him to use his legs as frequently.

Next. 5 Bears unlikely to be back in 2024. dark

Fields certainly has a lot of untapped potential, but even with what we’ve seen so far, he has done enough to be considered the Bears’ best player under the age of 25.
