Bears rumors: 5 trades Chicago can make to keep hope alive
By Ryan Heckman
3. A trade for Chase Young, DE, Commanders
By now, I am sure most have become familiar with the idea that the Washington Commanders could trade pass rusher Chase Young. After not having his fifth-year option picked up, Young entered this year as the last on his rookie contract.
So far, it's working out well for him. He's been one of the most successful pass rushers when it comes to pressuring and win rate, plus he has added 5.0 sacks through Week 7. Injuries have plagued him and are always a question mark, but if he's put those behind him, then Young is well-worth spending capital on.
Not only would Young be worth trading capital for, but he's worth extending as a cornerstone piece to this Bears defense. Chicago has long been looking for a top-end pass rusher since trading the likes of Khalil Mack and seeing Robert Quinn dwindle before his trade. The Bears are second-to-last in the NFL with 10 sacks as a team, as we speak.
Getting Young would ensure the Bears have at least one future defensive end in the fold, while this coming offseason they can plan out their revamped line even further.
