3 players Chicago Bears should trade for during the NFL Draft
By Ryan Heckman
3. Khalil Mack, EDGE, Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers had a whole lot of work to do this offseason with a roster that featured some expensive, aging veterans. Yes, they were able to agree with Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack on contract restructures. However, just how close do the Chargers feel they are to competing in the vaunted AFC?
If the Chargers want to try and look beyond 2024 and into 2025, in order to get younger and fill in some holes, then trading one of Bosa or Mack would still make a lot of sense, even though their contracts have been worked on a bit. Even though Mack took a pay cut, his cap hit in 2024 is still over $25 million.
The Bears need another edge rusher, which they very well could obtain with that no. 9 overall pick. Or, they could trade some 2025 capital to bring back an old friend.
Imagine Mack coming in and playing opposite Montez Sweat, with a strong linebacker group behind him and an ascending, young and talented secondary. Mack compiiled a 6-sack game just last year, proving he was far from done as one of the best pass rushers in the game today. Why not bring him back? What a story that would be.
