With quarterback Justin Fields returning from his thumb injury, all eyes will be on the Chicago Bears quarterback over the next two months.
Fields has been subject of many rumors and whispers in recent weeks due to a couple of reasons. First of all, the Bears currently own the rights to the no. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. If they finish with that pick, then they'll really have a decision to make.
Do they trade Fields and draft one of Caleb Williams or Drake Maye? Or, do they keep Fields and use that pick to bolster other positions?
Things are up in the air right now. That much we know for certain. With Fields returning, though, he's going to have to put on a show. And, that show might not be only for the Bears. He could be auditioning for some other teams, as well.
1. Chicago Bears
Of course, Fields could stay in Chicago. The Bears could see enough out of him to warrant him keeping his job and cementing a lot of the faith many of us have had in him all this time. Trading the first overall pick for a haul of capital and really adding to other positions is an idea that many fans would love to see come to life.
I think the best-case scenario for everyone involved is if Fields balls out the second half of the season and is allowed to stay in Chicago, with the Bears continuing to build around him and also giving him the correct coaching staff in 2024.
It would be Fields' third head coach in four years, and another new offense, but it could be for the better. Of course, the Bears could opt to trade him and start all over. The following four teams might make some sense.
