2. The Chicago Bears should trade for Tavierre Thomas
One area where the Bears are hurting greatly is at nickel corner. Second-year pro and starter Kyler Gordon was placed on injured reserve prior to Week 2 with a hand injury. That means he will miss a minimum of four games before the Bears can bring him back.
Backup nickel corner Josh Blackwell was also out versus the Bucs with a hamstring injury, so the Bears are quite thin there. One option they have is to trade for a guy like Houston Texans nickel Tavierre Thomas.
Thomas is Pro Football Focus' top graded cornerback in all of football through two weeks of the season, and he has earned a coverage grade of 90.0, which is outstanding. Thomas is only allowing 5.3 yards per reception, has been credited with seven stops and 12 total tackles.
Thomas is on a one-year deal with the Texans, and at 27 years old still has plenty of football left in him. The Bears could flip a late pick in next year's draft or the following year to Houston in exchange for his services, and thus have much better depth there going forward.
