By Peter Jurich
Andy Heck starts for Chicago Bears for a half-decade
With the Bears, Heck immediately manned down the left tackle position, and started in 14 of the team's games after missing two contests due to injury. Heck also started in both of the team's postseason games following the 1994 regular season.
After his first year in Chicago, Heck played in and started every game in the following three seasons. An impending free agent, the Bears offered Heck an extension before the 1998 season.
In what would be his last season with the Bears, Heck started in 14 of the team's games. At the end of the season, the team released the left tackle after five seasons in Chicago. From 1994 to 1998, Heck started in all 78 games that he was healthy to suit up for, including a stretch of 61 straight starts that overlapped their 1994 postseason run. Heck, who also served as a captain with the Bears, signed a two-year deal with the Washington Redskins before retiring following the 2000 season.
