Chicago Bears Countdown to Kickoff: 80 Days with Curtis Conway
By Peter Jurich
Curtis Conway's life and career post Chicago Bears
1999 brought another productive season for the receiver despite missing time throughout the season, as Conway totaled over 400 yards in just nine games. Following the season, Conway joined the San Diego Chargers, where he played for three seasons before having one-year stints with the Jets and 49ers. In five seasons after leaving the Bears, Conway added 24 career touchdowns with nearly 4,000 yards.
Following his retirement after the 2004 season, Conway finished his career with nearly 8,700 yards and 55 touchdowns. With the Bears, Conway racked up 4,763 yards with 31 touchdowns in seven seasons. These totals rank sixth in both categories in the franchise's history.
After stepping away from the game, Conway has remained relatively close to the NFL, serving as a color commentator and a host on NFL Network's Total Access. In 2015, Conway accepted a position with the Chargers' network as an analyst. Conway also married his now-wife Laila Ali, the daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. Conway and his family currently reside in Southern California, and the former receiver is still an active member of his community.
