Henry Melton's Legacy with Chicago Bears
In 2014, Melton became a free agent for the first time in his career and elected to sign a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Melton recovered from his injury properly, and was able to appear in all 16 of the team's games, even making three starts. Melton finished the season with a fairly impressive five sacks but was not resigned the following offseason.
A free agent once again in 2015, Melton opted for a reunion with his former coach Lovie Smith, who was now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In one season, Melton accumulated two sacks and thirty total tackles across all 16 of the team's games. After his one-year stint in Tampa Bay, Melton signed with the Denver Broncos but was released before the 2016 season, and retired shortly after.
Melton finished his career with the Chicago Bears with 15.5 sacks, 22 tackles for loss, and 89 total tackles. In four seasons, the former fourth-round selection appeared in 48 games while making 32 starts. Amongst franchise history, Melton's sack total is tied for 42nd best alongside Chris Zorich, with his tackles for loss mark tied for 19th best.
