The 2023 NFL Schedule is predicted to be released at some point next week. Rumors are that we should expect to see the schedule on or around May 11, 2023. Some schedule leaks are already starting to hit social media but this one goes even beyond a random tweet. It has been heavily rumored that the Chicago Bears would be the opponent of the Kansas City Chiefs for their home game in Germany. Well, a German tabloid newspaper called Bild is confirming those rumors.

Last year, the Germany game took place on November 13, 2022. This year, the rumored date will either be November 12th (Week 10) or November 19th (Week 11). Personally, I'm hoping that it is the 12th because that is the date I predicted, but that means we can expect Chicago to travel overseas in November and also see their bye week in either Week 11 or Week 12 since traditionally teams that play overseas receive their bye week the following week.

Rumors are the Chicago Bears will face the Chiefs in Germany in 2023

As soon as the Chicago Bears opponents were listed and as soon as the Kansas City Chiefs were announced to be playing in Germany, it seemed inevitable for the two to square off in Frankfurt.

According to Bild, the Munich Mayor had this to say about the NFL being in Germany last season:

""It was an honor for us to welcome the National Football League to Germany for their first regular season game in Munich and we are pleased with the economic and social impact, particularly on our tourism and hospitality industry.""
Dieter Reiter, Mayor of Munich

8.2 million viewers watched the Seahawks play the Patriots last season. It is reported that 5.8 million viewers came from the United States -- the most-viewed international game in history.

The hope here is that the Chicago Bears will actually make this game competitive. By this point in the season, we will know who the Chicago Bears are this season. The addition of Darnell Wright, a plug-and-play rookie at right tackle and Nate Davis, an upgrade at guard if Cody Whitehair is moving to center, should give Justin Fields more time to throw the football. Not to mention the addition of wide receiver D.J. Moore helping to open things up. That said, this is likely a loss versus the defending Super Bowl champions and quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
