4. Tremaine Edmunds has youth and athleticsm on his side
The Chicago Bears have established a trend of making any notable free agent signing a player coming off of his rookie contract. They are looking to bet on the upside and the thought that players will have their best days ahead of them.
That is exactly what Tremaine Edmunds brings to the table. He will be just 25 when the season starts. Beyond that, he is an athletic marvel. Below you can see how he did at the NFL combine, which shot him into the top half of the first round.
Tremaine Edmunds was drafted with pick 16 of round 1 in the 2018 draft class. He scored a 9.74 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 48 out of 1779 LB from 1987 to 2018. #Bears https://t.co/lnn3fYTXyW #RAS pic.twitter.com/Zqtsn7v1cD

He is not only one of the more athletic linebackers in the recent NFL combine history, he also is one of the biggest overall players. At 6'4", and 253 pounds, he brings a lot of sizes, and that comes with extreme length as well.
Edmunds has youth and athleticism on his side, and those are things that you cannot teach. it is a perfect pairing with T.J. Edwards, who had a completely different combine experience. Still, with Edwards playing well due to smarts and quick movement, and Edmunds winning with size and athletic ability, the duo is pretty dynamic.
