3 trades the Chicago Bears should pursue after NFL Draft

The 2024 NFL Draft has come and gone, and the Chicago Bears now look like a force to be reckoned with.

Having spent their top two picks on quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze, the Bears kicked things off with a bang. Adding to an already-impressive roster that finished the 2023 season strong, Chicago now looks at competing for much more in 2024.

With the draft in the rear view, the Bears should now look at shoring up their roster in one way or another. That could be via free agency, still, or by way of trade.

Why don't we look at three specific trades that make sense for the Bears now that the draft is over.

The Chicago Bears should try and trade running back Khalil Herbert

Chicago inked D'Andre Swift to a 3-year, $24 million deal in free agency and they also have second-year pro Roschon Johnson coming up as a well-rounded back. While they could choose to keep Khalil Herbert and use a 3-headed monster, the Bears may as well try and trade the fourth-year pro before his contract is up next spring.

One team that makes sense for Herbert is the Dallas Cowboys, who were supposedly "all in" on this year, but failed to make any splash moves at running back after losing Tony Pollard. For now, the team's lead back is Rico Dowdle, with second-year pro Deuce Vaughn and veteran Royce Freeman behind him.

Herbert is an established starter and would give the Cowboys a lift, and if the Bears could get a sixth-round pick for a guy who they may not need, then that would be a significant victory.
