Chicago should try and reunite with Khalil Mack
The Los Angeles Chargers and pass rusher Khalil Mack agreed to a restructured contract in March, where Mack will now count as a cap hit of $25.59 million. He will be a free agent in 2025, though, and it's tough to see the Chargers bringing him back when they're also paying Joey Bosa top-tier money.
Mack enjoyed some good seasons in Chicago, of course, after coming over from the Raiders. Now, though, the Bears' roster looks a whole lot better than it did when Mack was with the team. This is the perfect time to take advantage of a player who can still be a highly-effective pass rusher for a bit longer.
This deal is pretty simple. The Bears give up a third rounder in 2025 in exchange for one year of Mack. It might seem like a lofty price to pay, but Mack might just be that missing piece this defense needs in order to qualify as a championship-caliber unit. They already ended 2023 as a top-5 defense over the final 10 weeks. Mack simply puts them over the edge. It wouldn't be a bad idea to welcome him back.
