Trade Destination No. 3: The New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints jumped out to a 1-0 start this season after defeating the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. New starting quarterback Derek Carr threw for over 300 yards in his first game with the team, and second-year wide receiver Chris Olave was responsible for a good chunk; 112 yards to be exact.
Other than Olave, they have long-time Saints veteran Michael Thomas who is attempting to prove he has some left in the tank after a couple of years of injury issues. Health is not guaranteed though, for a guy like Thomas. God forbid anything happens to him, but the reality is, it could at any moment.
Rashid Shaheed looks like an exciting, up-and-coming option for this offense, as he went for 89 yards in that opening win. He's in his second year, like Olave, and the Saints are hoping he comes into being a viable option for this offense.
This is kind of a "what if" situation, but if Thomas did go down to injury, the Saints would be a logical destination for Claypool. But, even if Thomas remains healthy, Claypool could come in and be their WR3 while the offense still gets Shaheed involved in creative ways.
