5 veterans who won't make Chicago Bears roster Week 1
By Ryan Heckman
2. Michael Ojemudia, CB
What a difference a couple of years make for this Bears secondary. Whether we're talking about the resurgence of Eddie Jackson and the drafting of Jaquan Brisker rounding out a stout safety group, or the additions of Kyler Gordon and rookie Tyrique Stevenson at cornerback, this secondary should be a strength going into 2023.
Speaking of corner, the Bears will be lining up with Jaylon Johnson along with Stevenson on the outside. Gordon will man the slot, filling out the three starting corners for the Bears.
On the outside, behind Johnson and Stevenson, the Bears' first depth piece is veteran Kindle Vildor, who stepped up big time last year as a starter and performed much better than anyone had anticipated going into the season. Then, there's rookie fifth-round pick Terrell Smith out of Minnesota at the other backup.
From that point, there are a lot of names that could wind up making the team. But, I'm going with Michael Ojemudia as an odd man out here. He currently has Jaylon Jones and Greg Stroman Jr. ahead of him, too, and those two might also be cut, depending on how many corners the Bears decide to keep.
