As we move on from the Chicago Bears' loss to the Green Bay Packers, we have to remember that not everything is over. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers present a new challenge, but the team has a chance to get square at 1-1 with a big game coming up. If the Bears want to win this game and even their record, who are the players that must be watched?
3. The Chicago Bears interior offensive line must be much better
This one is pretty obvious. It technically is not one player, but this is the clear issue for the Chicago Bears roster at this point. If the Bears want to win any games, they have to get a lot more out of their combination of guard, center, and guard. This should have been expected, too.
Neither Lucas Patrick, nor Nate Davis spent a full week at practcie all summer, let alone on the same unit together. So, both of them came out of the gate rusty, and neither of them looked like they were in the right mental space next to each other. Cody Whitehair had practiced, but he was playing with a bad hand, and he most of his reps were at center this summer. Now, he is back to guard.
This group had no work together, and they had just started shuffling roles a few weeks ago. It was going to take time to come together. After struggling against Kenny Clark and Devonte Wyat, the Chicago Bears must now shift to Vita Vea and Logan Hall.
It looks like Calijah Kancey, the rookie interior rusher for the Bucs, will miss this game. If that is the case, the Chicago Bears must take advantage. Vea will be a disruptor and a mismatch, no matter where he lines up.
However, Hall is up and down. He can make plays in the backfield but also get moved in the run game. Still, Wyatt was up and down as a rookie and exploded against Nate Davis. Can Davis get some push in the run game against Logan Hall? Fans must watch this.
