Instead, what they've seen is a bust— so far. Velus Jones Jr. has the potential to be a special player in this league. But, up to this point, he has yet to show it. Many conversations about Velus Jones start with his potential and end with his lack of results.
Whether it be his costly fumbles in 2022, his lack of usage in 2022 and 2023, or his timely drops, Velus Jones Jr. is one of the most recent busts in Chicago Bears history.

He still has time to turn it around, and the skill he possesses can become unlocked. Something about Velus Jones Jr. needs to change. With how things stand, this pick is looking like Ryan Poles' biggest miss.
If Velus Jones Jr. can figure out a way to overcome the mental mistakes, he could turn his trajectory around. If he continues the way he's been going, he won't last on the Chicago Bears.
