Chicago Bears Week 1 Loser No. 3: Pass Rush

Having a whole position group as a loser feels way too unspecific, but it really was the entire defensive line that contributed to the poor defensive showing up front. Just as the Packers were able to control the line of scrimmage on defense, their offensive line also had their way with the Bears front.
Third down pressure was nonexistent, and you saw how much time Jordan Love had to throw. The Bears were not able to exploit the growing pains of an inexperienced quarterback because the Packers were able to keep him clean and in the pocket so he could make the throws they needed him to.

The broadcasts and NFL social media are buzzing about how good Jordan Love played, and sure, he did well considering the expectations from most Bears fans. In reality, it was just very easy for the Packers on offense today. The Bears were not able to stop the run, specifically Aaron Jones, on first and second downs, which made the Packers have some easy drives that led to scores.

It starts up front with getting the Packers into some third and long situations like Green Bay's defense did to the Bears. And when they did get that, the guys on the defensive line did not win their one-on-ones, which was the biggest problem. It is clear that the talent on the defensive line is still not nearly good enough to compete with a functioning offense like the Packers, and it could lead to a long and lackluster season for the defense again.

The Chicago Bears lost to the Green Bay Packers because of their lack of success at the line of scrimmage on both ends, combined with a really poor offensive game plan from Luke Getsy and company. It was clear how much these things affected the outcome of this game and teams going forward will want to continue to take advantage of these Bears' weaknesses. The adjustments will have to be made with the talent that is here, even if it is not enough to always compete.
