Chicago Bears Week 8 Winner No. 2: T.J. Edwards

The Chicago Bears have really good linebackers. For as much as people want to say about the contracts given out to the linebacking duo of Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards, both have shown to be worth that value. Edwards specifically has looked a lot better lately after struggling a bit to start the year, and he had another big game against the Chargers.

HE finished the game with thirteen total tackles and a recovered fumble. He has been flying around the football in the last few games, and it has led to some key turnovers. He has forced a fumble on the year and has two sacks, which has been a result of Matt Eberflus using him as a situational blitzer, especially on third downs. Edwards has elevated his game recently, and while the defense has been struggling overall this year, his play has led to some better overall performances in the last few games.

One area he has struggled a bit has been pass coverage against opposing running backs. Edwards not being the greatest athlete at the position holds him back a bit, but his intelligence and instincts help him to position himself to make plays. Last year, he looked elite as a pass defender because of how good the defense was around him, but this season, teams have exploited him in that area. It has been clear that he has put some focus on his range as this season has gone on, and his improved play over the last few games has been the result.
