As the Chicago Bears get ready for the 2024 NFL draft, there is always an uneasy feeling for the team. It is easy to get excited and think that the team will finally turn things around, but at the same time, it is just as easy to look back at the past draft classes and think that there is reason to be concerned.

What first-round mistakes of the past have Bears fans worried?

1. The Chicago Bears drafted Mitch Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes

Let me know if you have heard this one before. Yes, it is hard to write about the big first-round mistakes that the Bears are paying for without mentioning Mitch Trubisky. The Chicago Bears were dead set on a quarterback in what turned out to be a historic quarterback draft class. They just happened to take the wrong one.

Deshaun Watson turned out as well, but the big miss is the Bears taking Mitch Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes. Yes, Mahomes got the luxury of sitting for a year and working with Andy Reid. He also had Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce right from the jump. The Bears would not have been able to give him that

However, at the same time, it is obvious the Bears would have been in a great spot, and while they may not have had three Super Bowls by now, they surely would have won one. That is going to be the most painful mistake of the last decade.
