Former Bears QB thinks Chicago should stick with Justin Fields
The biggest question not just for the Chicago Bears this offseason but for the rest of the NFL world is what is going to happen with Justin Fields? The Bears hold the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft (thanks to Carolina) and now they have a decision to make regarding Fields, who they drafted in the first round in 2021.
Fields threw for 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions this season while rushing for 657 yards and four touchdowns. The Bears finished with a 5-8 record when Fields was quarterbacking them this season and finished 7-10 overall.
Former Bears backup quarterback Chase Daniel, who was in Chicago in 2018 and 2019, thinks the Bears should ride it out with Fields and even goes as far as to call him "the future for The Chicago Bears".
Chase Daniel: "I'm more convinced than ever that Justin Fields is the QB of the future for The Chicago Bears."
Daniel went back and watched every game that Fields played in this year and came away with that he thinks the Bears should build around him and not ship him off somewhere else this offseason. If they opt to hang onto Fields, they might look to trade the first overall pick and collect more draft picks to help their quarterback succeed.
If the Bears decide to get rid of Fields, they'd be hitting the reset button once again. If they hold onto him, they're eventually going to have to pay him, which could make it trickier to sign key free agents to help the team improve.
It'll be a long offseason debate about what the Bears should do with Fields but Chase Daniel is on the quarterback's side. Will the Bears take his advice?
