2. Will the Chicago Bears sign Bobby Okereke?
Bobby Okereke may be more likely to sign than Lavonte David. First, he does have a connection with Dave Borgonzi, but it goes beyond that. Both Borgonzi and Matt Eberflys was on the staff that drafted Okereke in the third round.
They saw Okereke grow from a depth option to a quality starter, and the work Borgonzi did with him was highlighted in his hiring with the Chicago Bears. So, the two coaches who have worked with him longer than anyone and perhaps closer than anyone in the NFL are two coaches on the Chicago Bears.
Beyond that, his age may be more in line with what Ryan Poles is trying to build. Okereke is coming off of his rookie salary contract and is going to be 27 years old next season. Being seven years younger than Lavonte David has some upside now.
For Bobby Okereke, he has to be looking at the Indianapolis Colts and thinking he wants to get out. When things were good, Eberflus was there, and he left and things got hectic in Indy. Perhaps he may go to someone he is comfortable with to find that stability.
So, if it makes sense from the player's side, the coach's side, and the front office, you have to think he is a considerable option.
