2. The Chicago Bears have to watch the Miami Dolphins defense in free agency

The Dolphins have a few big decisions that will impact the Bears as well. First, both Christian Wilkins and Raekwon Davis are free agents along the defensive line. They are not great fits with the Bears' needs, and Miami is going to be hard-pressed to lose either, but signing them will create chances for other players to join the Bears. If anyone did leave this offseason, it would be Davis.

Still, the name to watch if they sign both is Emmanuel Ogbah. The Dolphins will save $13.7M in cap space this offseason if they release Ogbah, which is essentially a lock to happen after Ogbah went from two straight nine-sack seasons to 6.5 sacks in two years. Still, he would be a huge upgrade in the role that Rasheem Green played, and he has the run defense aspect that the team wants.

The two free agent situations to watch are Brandon Jones and Deshon Elliott. Elliott has mostly played the free safety role in his career, so he would be a great pivot from Eddie Jackson. He is much younger and coming off of a better season.

Jones has played a lot of roles in the Dolphins’ back end and has mostly been depth, but the Bears could give him a chance on a cheap deal and let him compete to start. Jones has been great in his limited chances and may earn that opportunity in free agency. Will the Eddie Jackson replacement be one of these two Miami Dolphins defenders?
