Do the Chicago Bears want to add some depth offensive line options from the Detroit Lions?
The Detroit Lions turned their franchise around by investing in the offensive line. Now, they have a lot of depth to go with their starters, and some of them may be ready to leave in free agency. Are these names going to intrigue the Chicago Bears?
Halapoulivaati Vaitai is a free agent. He played just 192 snaps last season due to injury but has been in the NFL since 2016 and has 3,655 snaps in his career. Vaitai has played 1,470 snaps at right guard, 1,144 snaps at right tackle, and 917 snaps at left tackle. That type of versatility from a depth lineman is needed. His injuries and play have taken him from a firm starter to a lineman looking to sign to be depth this offseason. That is a great fit for the Bears.
Graham Glasgow is the man who replaced Vaitai at right guard. Still, this is a player with 2,559 snaps at center to go along with his 3,053 snaps at right guard and 1,219 snaps at left guard. Glasgow could sign for depth, or he could be the Chicago Bears starting center next year. He has to be considered.
Matt Nelson has been in the NFL for four seasons and has 1,072 snaps, with 910 coming at right tackle. The tackle depth would be appreciated, although he may just be a similar name to Larry Borom. Jonah Jackson is a free agent, but he will be looking at starter money, and the Bears mainly want depth unless you can play center. Jackson cannot.
