3 Free Agents the Bears Should Sign to Help Justin Fields

I hope any Bears fans reading this agree with me that trading Justin Fields is NOT the move.

After sitting through years of Mitch Trubisky and Co., Chicago is already rumored to be exploring how it can move on from Fields as the team is apparently considering blowing it all up and rebuilding with the No. 1 pick.

Listen, we all know that Chicago isn’t ready to compete for a Super Bowl yet, but that doesn’t mean trading Fields is the answer. There are several free agents the Bears could sign to help Fields, and I’ve narrowed it down to three players who could make a world of difference this fall.

But before we get into that, you’ll want to learn about the best promotion in sports gambling at BetMGM Sportsbook to use on a Bears bet.

Now let’s get back to fixing the Bears.

Three FAs Chicago Should Sign to Help Fields

When you look at the paths forward for Chicago, one factor jumps off the page: The Bears have the MOST cap space of any team entering this offseason.

That begs the question, why not try to add talent?

Quarterbacks with talent like Fields’s don’t come around often, as Bears fans know. Let’s try to figure out how we can put him in an even better position to succeed.

Orlando Brown, OT

Improving the offensive line is without a doubt the easiest way to help a young quarterback. When you consider that Fields was sacked 55 times (!!) last season – tied for most in the NFL with Russell Wilson – it’s OBVIOUS that he needs better protection.

Targeting Brown might be the smartest play. The Chiefs don’t have a ton of cap flexibility with several stars on their roster and they franchise-tagged Brown last season.

If Chicago makes an offer to Brown that the Chiefs can’t match, it might be an easy way to make a big upgrade to their O-line.

Jakobi Myers, WR

No disrespect meant to any free agent receivers this year, but this crop of wideouts STINKS. There aren’t any no-doubt WR1’s available to pay, but Myers is the next-best thing.

Operating as the WR1 in New England’s limited offense last season, Myers finished with 67 catches for 804 yards and six touchdowns even though he missed three games.

Those aren’t eye-popping numbers by any means, but Myers is a possession receiver, and those are lacking in Chicago right now.

However, consider that NONE of the Bears WRs recorded even 500 yards or more than three touchdowns this past season. Simply adding a guy who can record 70 catches or more would be a massive boon for Fields.

Will Hernandez, OG

The offensive line needs more help than just adding one player. Fields wasn’t much of a passer last season, but that might be partially due to his lack of protection.

Hernandez has been a strong pass-protector for Arizona and he wouldn’t be a bank-breaking option.

Chicago has some big-time issues to address on its defense, and signing Hernandez could fortify the O-line while also leaving some cap space free to attack other areas of concern.

At the very least this team needs an upgrade on the O-line, regardless of who it is.

This offseason could go any direction for Chicago, but if you think the Bears will keep Fields and get him some help, you might want to consider putting a futures bet on them.

If that’s your style, don’t forget to sign up with BetMGM so you have a no-risk bet to wager on your favorite team.
