The Chicago Bears have had a big piece of their offense missing over the course of the past two weeks.

Veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen has been dealing with a heel injury since the end of the preseason. While Allen was able to play in the Bears' season-opening victory over the Tennessee Titans, he was inactive for the Bears' losses to the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.

This past week saw Allen return to practice for the first time since the opening week of the regular season and on Friday, the Pro Bowl receiver was designated as questionable for today's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Despite the questionable designation, the expectation is that Allen will be playing today against the Rams.

Is Keenan Allen playing today?

Given Allen was able to practice each day this past week and the confidence from Matt Eberflus, it is safe to say that the veteran will be suited up on Sunday. Meaning, for only the second time this season, the Bears will have their full cast of wide receivers available.

It will be curious to see what Allen's return does for the offense. While one would have thought that Tyler Scott would have been elevated to the slot role, it has been returning specialist DeAndre Carter serving as a high-target receiver for the Bears. That likely will change on Sunday. Allen, during the Bears' season opener, was targeted 11 times.

The other question with Allen's return is how will the Bears line up the wide receivers. There is no question that DJ Moore will serve as the primary receiver but on the opposite side, the case could be made to leave Rome Odunze on the outside with Allen playing inside as the slot receiver. it's a scenario that would give Caleb Williams a veteran security blanket on the inside during plays where the team is in need of positive yards.
