It only took 3 games for Shane Waldron to incite mockery from his former fan base

After the first two weeks of this young NFL season, there was still some reason to believe new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron could figure things out. After all, the Chicago Bears were about to go up against the league's worst run defense.

This was a "get-right" matchup, if there ever was one.

instead, the Bears went pass-happy and still struggled when they did choose to run the football. More importantly, Waldron's play-calling was a primary issue, once again. Things haven't gone well for Waldron in Chicago, thus far, and fans are wondering what he might be seeing that no one else is.

For example, calling the option play on 4th down, from right outside the Colts goal line, was one of the most atrocious play calls Bears fans have ever seen -- and that's saying quite a lot.

Even starting center Coleman Shelton was bold enough to call out the play by Waldron after the game. Shelton has been awful, this year, himself. But, if even he could understand why it was such a horrendous call, I'd say it's a safe bet that it was, indeed, a bad call.

When the Bears hired Waldron, there were definitely reasons to be worried. For one, hearing and watching Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba talk about his former offensive coordinator didn't quite instill a lot of hope into the hearts of Bears fans.

Additionally, there were plenty of Seahawks fans who were happy to see Waldron get let go. Even beyond being happy, some Seahawks fans and experts even outed Waldron as being the main problem behind former Seattle head coach Pete Carroll losing his job.

Even our own Lee Vowell had to chime in on just how bad Waldron has been, giving Bears fans an "I told you so" type of sentiment:

"There was a reason Shane Waldron needed to be let go by the Seattle Seahawks after the 2023 season. In fact, Waldron was a great example of why the national narrative surrounding former Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was such a lie."

All NFL fans, alike, understand just how bad Shane Waldron has been

Just in case you haven't done a whole lot of searching on social media lately, or if you've missed some of the action over the first three weeks, it's safe to say there are a bunch of Seattle fans sharing the same feelings.

Where were you during the interview process, BenTheCoug?

It really isn't all that hard to believe, now.

Bears fans would like to be able and say this is completely off-base, but it's not.

Care to take him back?

Yes ... yes, Ryan Poles did, unfortunately.

Yep, sure does.

One man's joy is another man's pain, I guess.

Here's to hoping Waldron somehow magically morphs into Sean McVay in the near future.
