It only took 5 games for Luke Getsy to make another fanbase miserable

Some things are universal.

What a difference a year makes.

This time last season, the Bears were a mess. Justin Fields didn't really look any better, they were in the middle of a historically bad losing streak, and the offense was a woeful mix of ineptitude and terrible scheming. There was a lot of blame to go around – and Bears fans absolutely made sure to do so – but most of it went directly to offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.

You may remember Getsy as one of the latest in a long line of NFL coaches who got promoted because of Aaron Rodgers. Getsy made a name for himself as Green Bay's offensive coordinator, came to Chicago and immediately infuriated the third largest city in the country every weekend. There were endless screens, baffling run decisions on 2nd and long, and just a general sense that nothing good was ever going to happen. And it didn't! Getsy was politely shown the door at the end of the year, and soon landed on his feet as the offensive coordinator on Antonio Pierce's staff in Las Vegas.

If you can believe it, Gardner Minshew hasn't been the key to unlocking Getsy's offense. Minshew was benched in the middle of the Raiders' blowout loss to Denver on Sunday, which served as both a final straw for Minshew's QB1 status and also the patience of Raiders fans everywhere.

Raiders fans are already *extremely* over the Luke Getsy Experience

To be honest, there's something sweetly nostalgic about a nice Sunday afternoon stroll through Getsy's mentions. That used to be us! Remember that! WE hated runs on 2nd and long; WE didn't understand what the point of all those screens were. Those were the days. Every fan of every team that's under .500 wants to fire their offensive coordinator, but there's something so uniquely specific about the anger towards Getsy that makes Raiders fans feel so relatable this year. Packers fans didn't have to deal with this, so it's nice to know that someone out there understands what Bears fans went through.

It's not like Shane Waldron's done a whole lot better, but he's not Luke Getsy – and the Bears now have a QB that can consistently throw for over 300 yards. Raiders fans: we see you. We hear you. It's always darkest before the dawn. One day you'll look back on this and laugh, and not just to hide the pain.
