Justin Fields has perfect answer for fans who want him to stay with Bears
With rumors and speculation swirling about his future with the Chicago Bears, quarterback Justin Fields had the perfect answer for fans who want to see him stay in Chicago.
"Of course I want to stay," Fields said recently of Chicago. "I can't see myself playing in another place. But if it was up to me, I would want to stay in Chicago. I love the city. The city's lit. The fans there are great, and the people. It's a business. I ain't got no control over it; whatever happens, happens."
But, while Fields wants to stay in the Windy City, what he really wants is for the uncertainty regarding his future to come to a conclusion, and understandably so. You can't blame a guy for being tired of being the focus of consistent rumors and just wanting to know where he's going to be playing football next season.
"I think the biggest thing with all this going on right now, I just want it to be over," Fields said. "Like, just let me know if I'm getting traded, let me know if I'm staying, this and that."
Unfortunately for Fields. the answer he's looking for might not come right away. The Bears hold the top overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, and they're widely expected to select a quarterback,. If they do, trading Fields would be the next logical move.
But, it's possible that the team doesn't want to move Fields until closer to the draft, which is scheduled for April 25. In that scenario, Fields would have to endure nearly two more months of chatter and trade talks.
The Falcons have been frequently linked to Fields, and he recently addressed Atlanta as a potential landing spot if he is eventually traded.
"I think they got a lot of playmakers on the team," Fields said of the Falcons. "Bijan [Robinson], my boy Kyle [Pitts], and of course Drake [London]. They probably need one more receiver, but they definitely got some guys over there. Their defense was good this year too."
Atlanta won't be the only suitor for Fields if he's made available, but it's clear that the quarterback would prefer to stay in Chicago if he got his way.
