Injuries necessitated changes to the Chicago Bears' offensive line last week against the Indianapolis Colts.
With Nate Davis dealing with a groin injury last week, Matt Pryor was the team's starting right guard in last week's loss. Despite Matt Eberflus suggesting early in the week prior to the Colts' game that there were no anticipated changes for the offensive, Pryor was in place of the embattled Davis.
When Eberflus made that suggestion, there was speculation that the Bears could use Davis' injury to open the door for a different right guard option. That is indeed what happened, as Pryor played all but one snap at the right guard position last Sunday for the Bears.
Eberflus did praise Pryor's work, and in a sign that the change may be permanent, the former Colts offensive lineman indicated on Wednesday that the plan was for him to remain at guard.
Chicago Bears' offensive line continues to be in flux.
Here's the thing about Pryor's performance against the Colts last Sunday, he was far from the worst member of the Bears' offensive line. That doesn't mean that Pryor looked great, as he seemed to struggle once he reached the second level of his blocking assignments. But, because Pryor starting means Davis isn't, the likely is why Eberflus is a fan of the change.
Having said that, injuries may dictate Davis remaining a part of the starting offensive line. Among the notable injuries listed on the Bears' Wednesday injury report is right tackle Darnell Wright. Wright is dealing with a back injury and if he is unable to play on Sunday, Pryor or rookie tackle Kiran Amegadjie will be under consideration for the starting right tackle spot. If Pryor slides over to right tackle, Davis likely would be back in as the starting right guard.
