3. Does Xavier Hutchinson fit the Chicago Bears?
Xavier Hutchinson has been a reliable option for Iowa State over the past three seasons. He posted 771 yards in 2020, then followed it up by 990 yards, and 1,171 yards. He hit 100 targets the past two seasons; last year, he was targeted 161 times. It was clear that he was the offense in 2022.
Another big question with Hutchinson will be his speed. He runs sharp routes, but he is much more efficient against zone than he is against man. That is because he does not really have the speed and athletic upside to consistently attack defenders in man.
He has the sharp whits to find gaps in zone, and he is reliable in that area. This weekend will be about proving that he can be a more complete overall wide receiver. Can he show that he has the routes, size, and athletic potential to beat more physical defenders in the NFL, or will this week show that he may just be a big slot who can sit down in zone and move the chains?
