FINALLY we're talking about the Bears' defense again. After six straight months of hyping the Bears' offense, we no longer have to talk about a "star quarterback who may finally provide happiness for the first time in 50 years" or wide receivers who can "actually catch." Chicago is a town that loves their defense [/every uncle you know stands up to cheer] and now, thanks to Yahoo Sports, we are back to having the same conversation Bears fans have had for 80 years. All is right in the world.

As part of Yahoo Sports' NFL preview, analyst Nate Tice picked out a few players that could be potential breakout candidates this season. And, naturally, a Bears defensive player made the list. Real ball knowers get it.

Yahoo Sports thinks Kyler Gordon's in for a breakout season in 2024

"Gordon was key for a Bears defense that played like a top-10 unit in the back half of the season ... Gordon is another terror in the slot who can impact the game in multiple ways and is a key cog in the Bears' zone-heavy scheme that requires smarts and feel for space. Gordon helps round out what I think is the best cornerback trio in the NFL right now alongside Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson."

!!! The best cornerback trio in the NFL right now? You heard it here first (technically second but who's counting.) Surely no harm will come from these level of expectations.

To be fair the Bears fans, they've been calling their shot on a Kyler Gordon breakout season since literally the moment he was drafted. So eventually they were going to get it right. But they now have the Yahoo Sports stamp of approval, which changes everything. The Kyler Gordon All Pro season is here, and I hope everyone's ready to be smug about it on the internet.
