The Chicago Bears have plenty of assets and they will be active during free agency. One area they may need to address is guard. They liked what they saw from Teven Jenkins, but he had multiple injuries, and beyond that, they are very likely to move on from Cody Whitehair due to his salary.

So, if the team does go out into free agency, who are some of the best options to consider?

5. Can Chicago Bears sign Ben Powers?

One of the better fits for the Chicago Bears in free agency would be Ben Powers. Powers is coming from the Baltimore Ravens, so he ran an offense that was best suited for a quarterback like Lamar Jackson. Considering the offense improved when Luke Getsy started to adapt Ravens plays into the playbook, the fit makes plenty of sense.

Ben Powers is also just 26 years old, and has only been starting at left guard for the team the past two seasons. It is fair to say that the best play is still in front of him. The question is more about why the Baltimore Ravens would want to move away from him.

It may not be what they want, but they are in a tough spot because of Lamar Jackson and his cap situation. If they franchise tag him, they cannot shuffle his cap space around, and if Ben Powers hits free agency, he will get offers. Powers may be more likely to hit free agency than the Ravens would like. If this is the case, the Chicago Bears have to see a fit and an upgrade over Cody Whitehair at left guard.
