4. Are the Buccaneers shopping Donovan Smith?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to have tough decisions to make this offseason. Without a quarterback, and with an aging roster, they have to debate whether to keep things rolling, or possibly sell a year early and start the rebuild process.

One name that may be an easier decision than others is Donavon Smith. Smith has been a capable starter at left tackle and won a Super Bowl protecting Tom Brady. However, like a lot of the Bucs, last season was not his best. Now, he is 30 years old.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could save $10M this season by letting him go. He is not under contract long-term, but the Chicago Bears would just inherit one year and $7.9M of salary cap space. That is a darn good deal.

Beyond that, because of his age and contract situation, the Bucs would probably take a day three pick for Smith, knowing that they want the cap space, and knowing they may cut him if worst comes to worst.

The one question with Smith is that he is a left tackle, so would they move Braxton Jones to the right side? For what it is worth, Jones was getting right tackle work early in camp last season. For the cost, it is worth looking into.
